Call for Demos

Introduction

We are pleased to announce the RTSS@Work demo session, a premier component of the IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS). This interactive one-hour session will take place on December 9, 2026, providing a unique platform for researchers and practitioners to present their latest tools, prototypes, and system implementations to the real-time systems community.

Call for Proposals

RTSS@Work 2026 invites submissions for demonstrations that showcase innovative research and practical implementations in the field of real-time systems. The session aims to foster high-level technical discussions and provide a hands-on experience of cutting-edge technology.

While we welcome proposals across all areas of real-time systems, we are particularly interested in demos related to:

• Autonomous driving systems.
• Safety Island architectures and failsafe mechanisms.
• Vehicle Ethernet and advanced in-vehicle networking.
• Real-time middleware and OS-native DAG scheduling.

The RTSS@Work session will consist of two parts: (i) a short presentation session where each participant can present slides (to be collected before the session), followed by (ii) a demonstration session where participants can display their work and discuss it with the attendees.

At least one author must be registered, present slides, display a poster, and present the demo at the demo session and the reception.

Accepted RTSS@Work contributions will not be included in the main RTSS proceedings (published by IEEE). Instead, a separate booklet containing all RTSS@Work contributions will be made available on the conference website.

Submission Guidelines

Interested participants should submit a 2-page proposal of the demo with the following format:

• Proposals should be a single PDF document that conforms to the standard IEEE format used for the main conference (IEEE conference template, single-spacing, double-column layout, and a 10-point font size).
• The 2-page limit is inclusive of references and appendices, and submissions exceeding the limit will not be reviewed.
• RTSS@Work will use a single-blind review process. That is, author names and affiliations must appear on the submission.

The program committee will evaluate the proposals and formally invite the authors of the selected demos.

Logistics

The local organizing committee will manage on-site logistics to support the demonstration session. Each demo will be provided with:

• A standard demonstration table.
• Reliable power supply.
• Wireless internet access.
• A poster board.

Participants with specific logistical requirements are encouraged to contact the organizers in advance (simon.thompson@tier4.jp). Due to venue space limitations, demos requiring more than a single table cannot be accommodated.
